Problem 1:On the third episode of volume 2 (seventh in the entire series), the dub is completely missing one side of a conversation between 8:20 and 8:50 and at 10:08 to 10:13 that should have been voiced by a CRI agent on the radio.

Also, episode 8:
6:50 to 7:10 missing the announcer voice-over.
10:50 to 11:00 missing a man's radio transmission or voiceover.
11:20 to 11:30 missing Najica's radio transmission.

Workaround: turn on the subtitles for that section.

Players Affected: not a player issue, and type of sound system or its hookups have nothing to do with this either.

Severity: depending on who you talk to, you'll find people that will stand behind any number in my scale, 0-5, but for a couple other issues with this disc I'm not going into for the moment. This disc has been fixed with a newer version, but I think the Japanese audio skip remains.
Problem 2:The animation shifts on most scene changes in visible cycles. This is not a DVD authoring problem! It is a well known film splicing problem caused when this show was originally edited together. All Japanese and US releases of the Evangelion TV series show this problem.

Severity: It's pretty annoying.
Recalled: DVD volume 1 was fixed but I don't remember a recall. The fixed version is in the ADV "Perfect Collection" set.

Problem 1:The audio and subtitle language menu settings have no effect, the movie defaults to no subtitles, English audio.
Workaround: use the subtitle and audio remote buttons to switch to the appropriate track

Severity: 2 - higher if you have a player without buttons mentioned above.
Problem 2:A good number of the DVDs were manufactured poorly.
Workaround: return the disc to the store. If the new disc fails, return it to Manga
Discs Affected: Manga Entertainment claims that about 5000 were replicated with the second layer off center.
Players Affected: all? - not a player issue, although some players handle this problem better than others
Severity: for those affected, 3 or higher for the aggravation of returning the disc.

Problem 1: Episode 2: where Misato walks up to Shinji in the hospital. In the background there are announcements over the hospital PA system (No other dialogue).

Episode 3: There seems to be some missing dialog (on the English dialog track only) during Episode 3 at about 13:25 (Shinji thinking to himself inside Unit 01) and later Shinji's responses are missing when Misato and Ritsuko are talking to him before he launches.

Episode 5 in Japanese, I can get no subtitles for the loudspeaker announcements between 5m:18s and 5m:46s, i.e the whole scene.

Discs Affected: those whose package didn't have "QE" or "QC" on the package somewhere, basically a sign of the "more fixed" version of the disc.
