Bugs on Anime DVDs: Submissions

Insert catchy logo and mascot here. Any suggestions?

Submissions

I will be the first to say I do not have a complete list of bugs. I need to have other people submit the problems the find to me if I am to keep this list up to date, as I do not buy every title and I only have two DVD players and a limited network of friends that have a DVD player and watch anime DVDs.

I have found that a lot of my problems clear up on cleaning the DVD, even if it's a brand new DVD that's never been played. My copy of Dinosaur and a few of my Bandai DVDs didn't work properly until I cleaned them. I have had great luck with individually packaged premoistened eyeglass cleaner wipes. Please be careful to wipe the shiny side in a radial direction (toward or away from the center) and avoid touching the shiny side with anything. If a DVD has scratches you might be advised to invest in a repair kit, borrow one or replace the DVD.

Before submitting, please do a quick search on the Anime on DVD Glitch Forum, if it does not turn up your bug, post a question there to see if someone else has seen it. If other people have found the same problem they might be able to help you. Once a bug is confirmed, please follow the directions below to let me know of a bug.

When submitting a bug for inclusion in this list, please be as specific as possible. Please try to play your disc on as many DVD players that you can access, try to narrow the problem down to a specific player, title, track and time index. If it affects some players but not all, please supply a breakdown of which players are affected and which are not. My email address is at the bottom of this page. I intend to give proper credit for submissions unless asked to make it anonymous.

For each submission, please provide this information:

Title, volume number:
Vendor: Include main licencees and sublicences, such as CPM, Image Entertainment
Problems: A thoughrough description and how it is triggered.
Workaround: Any known workaround, if any exist
Discs Affected: If a certain pressing is affected, or if there is a way to identify working and nonworking versions, say so here
Players Affected: What players exposed the problem
Recalled: Has the company acknowledged the problem or recalled the disc?
Severity: 5 - the disc was not at all enjoyable, even unplayable because of the bug
4 - a thin line between a "renter" and a "buyer"
3 - annoying, but maybe still worth buying
2 - minor but still noticable
1 - almost insignificant, few are likely to notice the bug
0 - for what reason are you are reporting this to me?

Please note that the severity is highly subjective and everyone will have their own idea of how bad the problem is. I try to be as fair as I can in the ratings but you might disagree with a rating of mine somewhere. It's hard to nail down an entirely objective rating, so I hope you understand.

When you are done collecting as much info as you can, please send it to: Jeff DeMaagd. Please also note by what name you want to be credited or if you wish to remain anonymous. I will not publish email addresses unless specifically asked by the contributor.

If I cannot somehow confirm the submission, I may choose to add it to the "unconfirmed section", because I want to set this up so that at least two independent people can verify the bug's existense, I want to be as fair to the companies as possible.
