Anime Goodies Page

Anime Goodies Page

A lot of US released anime titles include limited edition special goodies, for the favor of buying stuff on release date I suppose. Sometimes these specials are hard to find and sometimes they are everywhere. Pioneer titles almost always have a sticker on the shrink wrap stating that there is a free item inside. I have put this page up to give people an idea what they looked like and to help decide if they are worth getting.

I have recently nabbed a decent scanner so the goodies that I do own do not need to be considered for submission as I will get through them eventually.

I have scans of:
NieA_7 #1

I would like scans of:
The Ryoko gold foil card that came with Tenchi Ultimate Edition
Nanako standees (could be a picture from a digital camera too, in standup mode).
"CardCaptors" standes (note, not Card Captor Sakura)
Anything else that might be of interest in this category but isn't on this page.

If you want to send me scans, please let me know before emailing them. I prefer that the largest dimension of the scan to be no larger than 600 pixels and that the submitted image be no larger than 100 kilobytes in file size.

Akira: Special Edition
100,000 tins were made in the initial run of the Akira Special Edition two disc sets.

Armitage III:
Each OVA LD included a copy of an original Japanese poster in color and also a monochrome English translation. Also of note is that in the LD days, the US company often used the japanese jacket and tacked on a translated version of the back, but it was glued only on the very top edge, so one can flip the translation up and see the original text and designs. The spines were left the same so one has to either know the Japanese title or pull out the volume and read the face. There was often plenty of English on the front that they were left that way.

Battle Athletes Victory:
These were included with the first run of BAV. The images are basically the same as the tiny SD characters seen on the spine, but on a reflective sticker. I still find some cases that include stickers from time to time, particularly at Suncoasts. It is hard to see but I put them in a normal baseball card protector sheet.

Thanks to Jon Niehof for giving me Jessie Gurtland. Well, the sticker anyways.

Card Captor Sakura:
Pioneer included a postard in a few of each volume of Card Captor Sakura.

Thanks to "Startide Rising" for sending me the scans of volumes 2 and 3.

There will be a limited "pencil board" included with volume 4 as a token of appreciation for patience concerning the delay. There will be 10,000 available.

Dual!:
The stickers for this series were a bit hard to find. I ended up buying volume 4 on tape as none of the DVDs I found included it.

Volume 1 Volume 2 Volume 3 Volume 4

Thanks to Jim Lazar for having assembled and posted these on his site, I used that image to make these, although I did rescan #2 myself as it was one of noticably poorer quality.

Gundam Wing:
Bandai Entertainmant said that there were 20,000 of these lenticular cards made, these were included with Gundam Wing volume 1.

Volume 1

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor
There were approximately 750 "I helped make the Tylor DVDs happen" kits sold to the first 750 people that ordered directly through TRSI. I have the t-shirt somewhere, I need to dig it up.

Volume 1

Magic User's Club:
The posters were free AnimeWorks giveaway for buying the DVDs from a participating retailer, notably Suncoast and later Best Prices was able to offer them. The first 10,000 DVDs of volume 1 included a clear keepcase with a clear insert, it was designed to make the DVD silkscreen print appear to be part of the packaging, and the appearance is consistent with the images of the Japanese Laserdisc jackets that I have found.

Packaging

No future volumes will have the clear case / insert. Click here to see how I made my own clear insert for volume #2.

NieA_7:
These cutout standees are supposedly of a less limited run, such that they'll hopefully be in the distribution system for a year.

Tenchi Universe:
Pioneer included a limited finger puppet card in each of the 8 volumes. The ninth image is the type Pioneer used to indicate that the volume has a limited item inside.

Someone provided two scans for me, but I can't find the email to give proper credit. Sorry!

Toward The Terra (terra e):
This is a poster that was included with the TRSI Laserdisc. It measures 11" wide by 17" tall (~28 x 43cm).

Utena: Special Edition
I believe 10,000 special sets were made, the difference being mainly the pink tinted transparent cases and an extra ad disc included.
